📋 Program Overview

Our webinar series is carefully structured across two sessions, each building on the previous one. Session 1 introduces the foundational science behind canine-assisted stress relief, while Session 2 dives deeper into structured therapy techniques and long-term resilience strategies. Both sessions include interactive elements and are designed for anyone interested in understanding the emotional benefits of living with or spending time around dogs.

Research-Based

Every topic covered in the webinar draws from peer-reviewed academic research in psychology, anthrozoology, and stress management. Participants receive information grounded in scientific evidence rather than opinion or anecdote, ensuring the educational value remains consistent and trustworthy throughout both sessions.

Interactive Format

Each session includes time for participant questions, guided exercises, and practical applications that attendees can begin using right away. The format encourages engagement and discussion, allowing participants to connect the material to their own experiences with dogs and emotional well-being.

Session 1 • June 8, 2026 • 19:00 EET

🐕 Canine-Assisted Stress Relief

The first session provides a comprehensive introduction to the science of canine-assisted stress relief. Participants will explore the biological and psychological mechanisms that make dogs such effective companions for emotional regulation. From the hormonal changes that occur during physical contact with a dog to the social benefits of walking with a pet, this session lays the groundwork for a deeper understanding of how our four-legged friends contribute to mental health and daily well-being.

Topics Covered

Dogs as Natural Antidepressants

Scientific studies reveal that regular interaction with dogs stimulates the production of serotonin and dopamine, neurotransmitters closely linked to feelings of happiness and calm. This segment examines the specific physiological pathways through which canine companionship influences mood regulation and provides a natural counterbalance to depressive symptoms. Participants will learn how even brief interactions with dogs can shift neurochemical patterns toward improved emotional states.

Outdoor Walks and Physical Activity

Walking a dog combines the therapeutic benefits of physical exercise with the calming influence of nature and animal companionship. This portion of the session reviews research linking dog walking to reduced blood pressure, lower resting heart rate, and decreased perceived stress. The discussion covers how routine outdoor activity with a dog creates a structured wellness habit that supports both cardiovascular health and emotional equilibrium.

Social and Emotional Engagement

Dogs serve as social catalysts, helping their owners forge connections with neighbors, fellow dog walkers, and community members. This topic explores the research on how pets reduce feelings of loneliness and social isolation. We examine case studies where dog ownership led to meaningful community bonds and improved emotional engagement, particularly among individuals living alone or experiencing life transitions.

Reducing Daily Anxiety with Pets

Everyday interactions with a dog, from petting and grooming to simply having a dog nearby, can measurably reduce cortisol levels and activate the parasympathetic nervous system. This segment presents findings from multiple research studies showing how the presence of a familiar dog during stressful situations buffers anxiety responses. Participants will gain practical insights into incorporating these natural calming mechanisms into their daily routines.

🛡️ Building Emotional Resilience with Dogs

The second session moves beyond the basics and into structured canine-assisted therapy approaches. Participants will learn about formal frameworks used by therapists and counselors who incorporate dogs into their practice. Through real-world case studies and interactive exercises, this session provides a roadmap for building lasting emotional resilience with the support of canine companionship. The goal is to equip attendees with knowledge they can apply in their personal lives to foster long-term mental health.

Topics Covered

Structured Canine-Assisted Therapy

This segment introduces the frameworks and protocols used by trained professionals who integrate dogs into therapeutic settings. Participants will learn about goal-directed interventions where specific activities with therapy dogs are designed to address anxiety, depression, and emotional regulation challenges. The discussion covers how structured sessions differ from casual pet interaction and why professional guidance enhances outcomes in therapeutic contexts.

Case Studies of Pet-Assisted Interventions

Real-world examples bring the research to life. This portion presents documented cases from hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools, and community programs where canine-assisted interventions produced measurable improvements in participant well-being. Each case study highlights the specific approach used, the population served, and the emotional or behavioral outcomes observed, giving participants a concrete understanding of therapy dogs in action.

Techniques for Long-Term Stress Management

Beyond immediate stress relief, this topic focuses on building sustainable habits that promote ongoing emotional health. Participants explore evidence-based strategies for integrating canine interaction into a holistic stress management plan, including mindful dog walking, structured bonding activities, and awareness techniques. The emphasis is on creating a lasting practice rather than relying on single-moment interventions for stress reduction.

Participant Exercises and Q&A

The session concludes with guided exercises that participants can practice at home, with or without a dog present. These include breathing techniques paired with pet interaction, journaling prompts related to the human-animal bond, and mindfulness activities adapted for dog owners. A dedicated Q&A period gives attendees the opportunity to ask the expert specific questions about canine-assisted emotional therapy.
